SSI has a great deal of experience in reducing mixed ferrous and non ferrous materials to the point where an increase in value or liberation sufficient for feeding separation technologies occurs. We offer a wide range of shredders and integrated processing systems for this space.

HPU and Controls Housing
This option is a way to protect vulnerable electrical and hydraulic components from a variety of environmental and application factors that can cause premature wear or damage. Maintenance personnel also appreciate the cleaner service area.

The most powerful two-shaft shredder produced by SSI to date, the M180HQ is capable of processing almost anything. It can be used as a primary shredder or a stand alone shredder for ferrous or non ferrous metal processing applications.

Ferrous Metals
Common applications for SSI include: thin gauge sheet, tin roofing and siding, stampings, turnings, formed parts, appliances and auto panels (not whole cars). Shredders are commonly used to remove airspace, increase density, reduce transportation costs and improve pricing.
Aluminum
Baled UBCs, sheet, taint tabor, slitter balls, coils, siding, HRB bales, wheels, extrusions, radiators and more. These are all applications where SSI shredders have been widely used to process, liberate, densify and prepare materials for sorting, delacquering systems and furnaces.
Copper, Brass, Other Non-ferrous
Anodes, tubing, radiators, ICW, brass, silver coated wire & plate and more have been processed with SSI shredders for liberation, recovery and densification ahead of furnaces.
Specialty Alloys
Titanium, Zirconium, Magnesium, blended and mixed alloys are among things that SSI shredders have processed for customers. In these cases, systems are typically purpose built and proprietary.
Appliances, E-scrap & Asr
SSI has extensive experience in the supply of processing systems that are designed to reduce these kinds of materials and separate commodities at the first point they become marketable.
Lead Acid Batteries
SSI has many installations processing automobile, truck and industrial lead acid batteries. These corrosion resistant machines are purpose built and many of them have been in service for 20+ years processing 40+ tons per hour. Finished materials include recyclable metals, plastics and acid, which can be regenerated and re-used or converted into an additive found in laundry detergents.
